Rudy review

Daniel Eugene "Rudy" Ruettiger dreams of going to Notre Dame and playing for the Fighting Irish. He is inspired to achieve his dreams because of his best friend Pete, who likewise works in his fathers factory. People say negative things about Rudy because of his height and lack of talents.

People will still enjoy this especially when your feeling low. Not entirely a football flick, but about persistence, courage and believing in your dreams with friends along the way. A simple plot yet full of drama and inspiration coupled with a lovely score and sincere performances. Great screenplay with lines from Fortune - "In this life, you don't have to prove nothin' to nobody but yourself." and Pete - " Well, you know what my dad always said, Having dreams is what makes life tolerable." One of the most moving sports films ever.

One of the most wonderful things a film can do is be so moving and triumphant that it makes you cry. You aren't crying because Bambi mother's was killed, instead you are identifying with the power of the human spirit. Rudy is an ordinary man, you could even argue that he is less than ordinary in regards to his physical attributes and academic capacity, but he achieves an extraordinary feat. He leads with his heart, even when he doesn't fully understand why he is putting himself through such perils. He seeks to prove himself to others, to all those who doubted him and he thrives to achieve his goal for those few who believed in him. And eventually, when he tested in his darkest moment, his epipany comes: he needs to do this for himself.

Sean Astin is brilliant in his role as Notre Dame'...

#21 has crowd screaming Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!

Sean Astin stars as Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger in an inspiring true story about an undersized football player who will do anything to live out his lifelong dream- to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Astin plays the role perfectly and it his will and determination that truly stands out in the film. A great supporting cast include Ned Beatty as the proud but cautious father; Jon Favreau as his best friend and only real support and Charles S. Dutton as the former Irish football player who gets him a job as a groundskeeper. Rudy faces challenge after challenge throughout the entire film and never gives up and the ending still gets to me. I am sure it has a little to do with my love for football that has this movie rated so high- but I love this film and I highly recommend it- pigskin love...
