The emotionless acting and senseless plot are justifiable reasons to hate it, but "Mortal Kombat" has enough energy and visuals to earn itself a spot on the shelf as a delightful guilty pleasure.

Mortal Kombat may not be high art, but it's a fun Martial Arts Fantasy flick that is leagues above the likes of Street Fighter and Super Mario Bros. The movie ultimately succeeds thanks to its entertaining fight scenes, well picked cast, stylish visuals (minus some dated CGI here and there), and overall faithful treatment of the video game it's based on. In my opinion, it's the best movie adapted from a video game, and while that may not be saying a lot considering the poor track record of the sub-genre, I still enjoy this movie a lot. Great 90s soundtrack too.

One word: Disappointing. After seeing commercials with people rampaging in the streets with axes and stomping on cars screaming "Nothing can prepare you!" I expected more than this. I expected something like the movie Ninja Assassin. Hello? Where are the fatalities? Where is the choreography? Why does the fighting suck? It was a shameful day indeed when I saw this movie back in the 90's. This series was rebooted on You Tube and the first season is pretty outstanding.

Not quite as dreadful as it sounds and at least it's self aware and tongue-in-cheek. Nowhere near as bad as the Streetfighter movie, but that ain't saying much...

Mindless action, techo music and yet another example of a video game movie that just doesn't work. It's fun in a cheesy action kind of way, but considering the source material, it's about as much as could be hoped for.

Mortal Kombat was an Oscar award winner compared to Street Fighter: The Movie. At least it stayed closer to the video game & how can you not like the soundtrack?! I had the theme song stuck in my head for days & after watching it, I just wanted to go out & play the game

Looking back, this movie was cheap and cheesy in almost every aspect. Some would argue that it has a certain camp quality to it, but that only stretched so far and I got bored about halfway through the movie.

Alright, in 1995, I was little more than 8 years old, which may explain why this movie was such a kick for me, and continues to be now. Surely not one of the top movies of all time, but certainly a great homage to one of the most violent video games that I was allowed to play, therefore, this movie makes my 1995 all the better. What was so intriguing about this movie was how cool it was, my parents enjoyed it, I enjoyed it, and so there was never any worry. Awesome effects (at least for 1995) and a great story arc to shape around a game where all you do is magic tricks to make people explode or fall onto a field of spikes (which is the only Fatality anyone could do at 7 or 8 years old).

I'm sorry, but it really was a bad movie.
