Longing for True Feelings

'Carol' is a behind-closed-doors romance upheld by two impeccably engaging lead performances and strong direction. It's as if you're transported to this time and place, viewing this slowly sizzling intimate relationship through the prism of the period. The unaccepting viewpoints from supporting characters ins't over dramatized or made to be the only obstacle between the potential lovers. Both women have their other counterparts to deal with and it's handled with more care than most movies. You do see heartbreak it causes on all sides, not just the women. Their attraction is always the focal point. I really felt their longing for each other, so much so that the film gains sufficient build-up to their first physical interaction of love. It's handled with delicacy in a tasteful manner.

Christmas Carol

This affair of an unconventional nature is further complicated by the fact that Carol is married to Harge Aird (Kyle Chandler), and they have a daughter.

"Carol" is accurate in its depiction of intrigue. The secret longings of retail clerks smitten by the attractive, wedding ring bearing, “taken” customers they serve is dead on. The rush of rendezvous flood the screen. The maddening jealousy as the result of betrayal, the hurt of unrequited love and the pain of rejection are all plainly visible. In fact it’s all there, …

Carol - Movie Review

Therese Belivet: "I don't know what I want. How could I know what I want if I say yes to everything?".

Carol is set in 1950s New York, a department-store clerk dreams of a better life for himself and finds himself falling for an older, married woman.

Before Carol was even release, it had a lot of Oscar talk with the two main leads and the story itself. It's one of those period piece movies that people start talking about how many awards it's going to win (It's mostly Gold Derby predictions) and not actually talking about the movie itself, only the awards and it's quite sad when I think about it. But all that a side, I've been anticipating Carol for awhile now, just because of the two main stars and the beautiful teaser trailer that got me interested in seeing it. And after seeing …
