Equilibrium

Absolutely fantastic! I loved every second of this film. Definitely on of the most underrated films I have ever seen before. I do not know why it received such negative reviews or why it grossed so little at the box office (only 5mil).

Although similar to many novels and other films, Equilibrium still stands alone. The seemingly cliche story is brilliantly executed by the main character played by Christian Bale. He gives a brilliant performance that reminds me why he's my favorite actor. Even though some of the other actors are only okay, his performance gives the film a whole other dimension of depthness that it would have otherwise lacked. The action is really unique and original, too. Very enjoyable to watch.

Again, I cannot tell of how underrated this film is. It is simply …

Equilibrium review

After the third World War, Libria is governed by the Tetragrammaton Council that eradicates people with human emotion led by the Father" (Sean Pertwee). Grammaton Cleric John Preston (Christian Bale) is a high ranking officer who decides to take matters into his own hands. He eliminates his own partner for reading a book and is replaced by Brandt (Taye Diggs). Messages of importance of human emotions, change, being a robot like employee and justice were well portrayed in the action packed film. Only thing baffling that keeps this critic from giving a perfect score is the conclusion where Preston massacres and you see fear and Brandt laugh, which is ironic since they shouldn’t have any emotions. Lack of a better script, background artists and a more enticing soundtrack were …

"Equilibrium" by Yojimbo

Yojimbo - wrote on 12/20/2011

A future society that subdues its populace with an emotionally inhibiting drug is enforced by a police force of "clerics" who execute all those accused of "sense crime". Dismissed by most upon its release as just another Matrix clone, there are superficial similarities; stylistically the action choreography and costume design are very similar. There's a lot more going on under the surface however, as it takes cues from the likes of 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 in its depiction of a totalitarian, book burning society and message of individuality and what it means to be human. But by far the biggest difference is in its star; Christian Bale's far superior range makes for a performance that's both emotionally engaging and believable in its depiction of a man suddenly in conflict with everything …

"He's a Sense Offender!"

Yes, sounds alot like "sex offender." I found it funny when they yelled SENSE OFFENDER countless times. Heh, Sense. Sex. Heh. ANYWAYS.

In a dystopia about this nearby future where emotion is forbidden under strict Control from the Goverment.

This movie is much more 'under-rated' then The Matrix, which I would consider incredibly similar, but I enjoyed them equal. I liked the movie, but to me, I just found it very entertaining. Nothing amazing, just had lots of fun. Maybe it is because off and on I would stare at the wall missing some important parts of the film, because I felt there was nothing better to do than stare at nothing. Once i noticed i had missed 3 minutes of what could have meant importance to Equilibrium's plot, i didn't really seem to care.

The director did a great …

Introducing Christian Bale

Owtkast - wrote on 08/27/2008

If you liked Dark City, Blade, Terminator or The Matrix, you are bound to love this film. Equilibruim gives you what many movies these days are missing: actors who can act, action that kicks butt, and a plot that truly works for a sci-fi film. With a storyline somewhat similar to the dismal Gattaca, this film takes place post World War III, where emotions are suppressed in an effort to dehumanize mankind and prevent a fourth war. Hats off to Kurt Wimmer for a well-written courageous script and some fine directing. Christian Bale gives an excellent performance that only he can. His emotionless and intense John Preston is eerie. Yet the depth he later brings to his character is genuine and sincere. You "feel" right along with him. Watching this film, I didn't really know what to expect. It …

Cool As Hell

Its really hard to believe that the director of the tragedy that was Ultraviolet once before did a movie as good as Equilibrium. Theres a critic review on the case which actually tells the reader to forget about The Matrix because this movie is better, I have to say I disagree. Both do take place in the future, both feature amazing special effects and fight scenes, but The Matrix is a lot better then this is. Kurt Wimmer does a great job in creating an interesting story of the future, something in which I have never seen, heard or read about before. The action scenes are simply stunning and the directing is dead on perfect. Problem is the movie gets boring. Thats about it.

Its interesting to have the idea that in the future there will be no emotions, now that I have seen and …
