Better than Expected

The Dark Knight - another title adding to the long list of Batman movies in existence. Now, I'm not much for superhero movies, and I was never really a fan of Batman, so I thought watching The Dark Knight and enjoying it would be like a nun watching a porno and actually liking it. Then Heath Ledger died and, somehow, I just couldn't say no. So, despite the fact that I told everyone I knew that I would never see the film, I spent the money on a ticket to see the movie with my friends when it was still in theaters. Now, after seeing the film about six times, despite the length, I can easily say that The Dark Knight was, at the least, enjoyable.

The Dark Knight takes place in Gotham City, which really shouldn't be a shock to anyone that knows anything about Batman. Bruce Wayne, played by ...

The Dark Knight

The typical superhero movie is associated with a thin plotted action film, paced with humor and not very complex. The Dark Knight is an incredible contradiction to the perception. Defined by a thrilling plot and riveting characters, the film is a stunning drama that contemplates human nature as complexly as any other.
The most obvious and discussed highlight of the film is Heath Ledger’s incredible performance as the Joker. Ledger takes a completely opposite direction from Jack Nicholson’s Joker, opting for a violent, sadistic sociopath that relishes in destruction and murder. What is so engrossing about the Joker as a villain is that he has no motives, no desires for money or power, he causes destruction simply because he wants to. As a character, the Joker’s only goal has been to chal...

The Dark Knight Review

The Dark Knight is the best Batman movie that has ever came out. I remember all the Batman movies that came out when I was a kid. Like the ones with Val Kilmer and George Clooney. Whoever the director was to those films needs shot. I remember telling myself this is not Batman. Finally Christopher Nolan came and did what I've been wanting from the start. The Batman series from him will go down in history. Batman is the greatest DC comic hero ever. This movie will go down as one of the greatest movies ever. But not because of Batman, because of Heath Ledger R.I.P. He played the Joker as best as anyone could and he will be the best Joker that there will ever be no one will top him, I say see the movie just because of him. Christian Bale did fantastic as expected. Everyone knew he would be gr...

Almost dark enough

A madman has brought his wrath to "Gotham City" (Chicago, Illinois) which is finally cleaning out the criminal element. That man is known to authorities as "The Joker" (Heath Ledger). And there is only one man who can stop him -- a masked vigilante known as "The Batman" (Christian Bale).

However, another man is trying to do, legally, what the "Caped Crusader" has been doing. That man is the District Attorney "Harvey Dent" (Aaron Eckhart), who eventually becomes what "Bruce Wayne" (Bale) fights to become in his dark alter-ego.

The two men who are trying to get "The Clown Prince of Crime" each have the same partner -- "Lt. James Gordon" (Gary Oldman), who is one of the only uncorrupt cops on the force. But, "Batman" has two more partners in his battle against evil -- "Alfred" (Sir Mic...

Does Not Live Up To The Hype

I know there are many who will disagree with me, but I was not overwhelmed by this movie. Heath Ledger was brilliant as Joker. The Joker was underused, however. I'm not particularly a fan of Christian Bale. I find his acting flat, as I found it in this movie. I believe he has the worst Batman voice ever. There were too many subplots going on at once and I found this detracted from the main plot at times. Sure, there were lots of chases and explosions, but not all of them were necessary. Bigger is not always better and I wish the movie makers out there would realize this. So many movies could be totally streamlined. It's like everything was in this movie, except the kitchen sink. I found the movie to be too long. It just didn't live up to the hype for me.

Most amazing movie ever!

WOW WOW WOW!!!! This is the best movie I have ever seen!I don't really like super hero movies, because usually they are so clichè! Not this one though! It captures your attention from beginning to end. The plot is exciting and keeps you attentive, because it keeps surprising you. Needless to say the cast is amazing and the special effects are untouchable! The characters grow and change in the movie and that gives it the exciting and invincable air! I have to single out Heath Ledger and not because it was his last movie, but because he definitely got the most interesting character in the movie! The joker adds a mysterious and unknown element to the movie1 Pay special attention to his words and also batman's words! If ever there was a movie that you had to watch again it's this one! Watch,...

Did your balls drop off?

One word describes this movie to a T... Wow!! The direction by Nolan was outstanding. The dark personna that Nolan has given Batman in both this movie and Batman Begins has redefined the Superhero's character. The performance of Christian Bale has really grown on me. During Batman Begins, I had a hard time believing that Bale could beat Michael Keaton's performance, but after seeing this movie, Bale is the best Batman hands down. But the essence of the movie was the performance of Heath Ledger. He was outstanding as the Joker. I have never seen a more edge of your seat villian ( except maybe for Hannibal Lecter) in any movie. The supporting cast was phenominal, except for the performance of Maggie Gyllenhaal.. She should not have replaced Katie Holmes as they have two different acting sty...

The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is an Outstanding and amazingly clever film that gets everything perfectly right down to the smallest detail. The film is roughly two hours and forty minutes long, however, you wouldn't notice because the film is so action packed and exciting that the time goes by fast. Christopher Nolan is with out a doubt on of the best directors out there today, he was a wonderful way of telling a story and also knows how to give every actor on screen their equal amount of screen time, never wasting a single actor. What he does with this film will undoubtedly boost his career and rightfully so. The screenplay is brilliant for giving every actor good dialogue and just the right words to say. The performances are the superb with Christian Bale giving a tough, charming and very sincere per...

A FILM EXTRAORDINAIRE

With an outstanding posthumous awarded to the late Ledger, NOLAN is, without question, the director that rode the waves of acclaim starting from BATMAN BEGINS (2005). There is something in this film that gave us a new image of a villain- a devil incarnate- in the highest sense of the word. Also delicately exposes man's tacit propensity to swing into the dark side. But... that there is also in him, a greater desire to sacrifice so that good reigns over evil, others over self. Here is a film where cinematography, graphic images, hi-tech gadgetries, and breathtaking stunts are kept at bay by the strong message of the two figures of the JOKER and BATMAN.

Just PURE ENERGY !! Nothing but C7H5N3O6 (TNT) !! Explosive !! If I could give it a "5" I will .....

Great movie, changes too many backgrounds

This movie was visually amazing and Heath Ledger delivered a great performance.

Here are some of the things that didn't fly well with me:
1. They essentially reinvented the story of the Joker. They didn't expand it and slightly change it like the Michael Keaton/Jack Nicholson did. This was essentially an entirely new back story. I don't like that.

2. On top of that, the Two-Face story was changed. That's two alterations in one movie.

3. The city itself was not that dark. The Joker was very dark but the city was too 'standard' for me.

4. I like Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne but I'm not sold on him as Batman. His new suit is better but I'm still not a huge fan.

But many, if not most, of the other aspects were very good. The story was good. It is definitely worth seeing. I'm ...
