Strongly developed and more stylized than just about any superhero movie ever made.

The movie is about a bite by a genetically modified spider turns unsuspecting high school student Peter Parker into a reluctant superhero who learns that with great power comes great responsibility. Oky I have to say the visual effect's in this movie was not so good but this movie was my child hood favorite.

I enjoyed this super-hero movie. I think Maquire was a good choice and he performed well. I have not read the comic books so I do not know the comparison of the two.

The origin story of Spiderman is handled as well as can be by Sam Raimi, but Spiderman is himself a cartoonish character and the film's action scenes don't hold the same weight or urgency as other modern super hero franchises. I also don't like Tobey Maguire's whiney portrayal of the title role, though William Dafoe chews the scenery menacingly as the villain. The franchise got it right with the sequel, however - one of the best hero films ever.

I've always liked that Spider-Man is a conflicted superhero (aren't they all) and just loaded with shortcomings. If he wasn't so torn apart his actions would be way less heroic. Tobey Maguire grew on me. I just didn't see him in the role at first.

The first in the Spider-Man film series based on the fictional Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. It was directed by Sam Raimi and written by David Koepp. It stars Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, a high-school student who turns to crimefighting after developing spiderlike powers, along with Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin, Kirsten Dunst as Peter's love interest, and James Franco as his best friend.Absolute stunning visual effects in a filmed comic magazine! The kiss scene in the rain is absolute delicious.

An origin story that does the Spider-Man character justice, in the way that it captures the feel of the original comics through it's visuals and storytelling. It's good, somewhat cheesy fun, reminiscent of the first Superman film. I'll always remember it fondly.

There is quite simply one word for this movie. Stunning. It is an amazing cinematic acheivment that should make any person that sees it happy. The acting is absolutly flawless with a tremendous performance from Tobey Maguire. The visuals are just spectacular that make your jaw drop. This is in the runnings for the best movie ever in my books.

The advantage of why marvel sometimes create better movies than DC are not the characters, its how they make it interesting with a touch of humor. Casting usually helps, you have Willem Dafoe as the green Goblin, James Franco as a good friend of Parker, Harry Osborn, Kirsten Dunst as the likable Mary Jane Watson and Tobey Maguire was suited as Spiderman. The director did a good job in the storytelling, background music and script. If only the action scenes were longer, then I would have rated it higher. In the words of Peter Parker – “With great power comes great responsibility.” The people responsible for Spiderman were surely noticed by many.
