Plot: A cynical woman returns to her fishing village home after life and love have brought nothing but hurt in New York. She lodges with her brother, Joe, and quickly finds herself the object of affection for two men: the kind, naive Jerry D'Amato and the brutish Earl Pfeiffer, who is caught in a bitter marriage. Although she marries Jerry, and they have a daughter, it is a loveless relationship. When Earl's wife finally leaves hims, he becomes depressed, and she is there to comfort him. -- Chris Kavan
