Everyone involved with the making of Olympus Has Fallen should be ashamed of themselves. With so many tragedies running rampant in the real world, constantly on the news, from bombings, to multiple shootings, to murders. Here comes a film with a talented cast, and a once talented director in Antoine Fuqua who depicts horrific sustained sequences of innocent bystanders, police officers, security guards, and basically every American in Washington graphically being blown apart by bullets, crushed by falling debris from the Washington Monument, to crashing planes, some even into surrounding neighborhoods. This is lurid porn of innocent people being blown apart, with lingering shots of bodies littered all over the place. This isn't an action film, this a depressing, gruesome, disgusting, and tasteless destruction porn. It's really quite sickening. But of course the hero is able to dodge every bullet. Go jingoism! Stay classy.
