Overlooked gem that looks like a film from another, better time. when Robert De Niro and Cissy Spacek would have filled the central roles. Not that the acting here demands any replacements as it's superb all down the line. Things sags a bit in the middle, but the unpredictable Elvis (Gael Garcia Bernal) ensures attention remains focused right through to a denouement you never really see coming
