Not Your Ordinary Film About Homosexuals

Finally, a fascinating gay film. I'm so sick of watching gay comedies that try to be edgy but end up being pretentious and offensive. This one is more serious and the ending was quite sad because, in the film's one hour running time, the filmmakers managed to deftly establish the characters. I did like the film's style--shaking camera, lots of close-ups; it was kind of like watching a home video, which I thought made it that more personal and absorbing. The two lovers were interesting to watch, not just the way they show their affection, but because even though they were so different, they were so alike at the same time. There were two or three side stories that made it a little bit distracting but it's no big deal. This is a prime example of a non-Hollywood film that's short yet so rich. I love films like this. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in gay cinema... or just plain talented filmmaking.
