Sean Biggerstaff is a baby in this movie! I really wanted to like this movie more but I'm afraid it's a little bit too slow for my liking. I think I recognize a pattern: I have a penchant for films that make the weather a character, especially the harsh power of winter. This picture could have been stronger if it had focused its attention to the mother-daughter relationship and the two schoolboys' friendship. The two women who like to attend funerals and the two teenagers' love story is bit run down and tedious. My favourite scenes has got to be the arguments between the mom and the daughter because I somehow managed to felt their pain and frustration. With a little bit more focus, this movie could have been more effective. Still, it's not bad. If you like the actors and want to see how Alan Rickman directs, go ahead and catch this one.
