Silent Night, Deadly Night III: Better Watch Out!

Laura Anderson (Samantha Scully) was a blind girl who seemed to have a strange psychological connection with “The Santa Claus Killer” Ricky Caldwell (Bill Moseley), who had been in a coma for six years. Now that Ricky is awake and killing again, Laura must stop him in “Silent Night, Deadly Night III: Better Watch Out!”

Finally, some tolerable acting in this series. Granted, it’s nothing too helpful, but it’s better than Eric Freeman in the second. The problem this time, however, is that the story has almost completely nothing to do with the original, nor is it really much of a story. The killing is much more random and now no longer only the “naughty” people are murdered. Ricky doesn’t even end up in a Santa costume!

If you were expecting another laughable but bloody movie like the first two, both of these traits are pretty much missing. All of the murders are done before we see them, with the violent remains of the slaughters depicted. I think they did this for shock factor, but it just doesn’t work. Because of this, the movie becomes boring and has less of a campy feel to it and more of just a boring feeling.

“Silent Night, Deadly Night III” is a bad sign for the final two, which at this point I can only imagine are more dull, but at least they’re getting more unique and actually using creative cinematography.
