There Will Be Blood

Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis) was an oil driller in early 1900’s Texas. His story of family and fortune is told in “There Will Be Blood.”

If anybody told you this year that there’s just no such thing as good acting, you should take them to this movie. Day-Lewis has been winning Best Actor at almost every award ceremony and rightly deserves it every time. Paul Dano (as Paul and Eli Sunday) also gives a great performance with a much more, if anything, talkative role than “Little Miss Sunshine.”

The music really drew me in here. The first ten or so minutes of the movie has no dialogue, but every moment is gripping. The cinematography keeps you watching while the music almost makes you afraid to. Everything works together very well, giving the film an eerie yet real feeling.

“There Will Be Blood” is probably the only Golden Globe for Best Picture – Drama nominee I will be buying on DVD this year. I don’t think it will win, but I’m pretty sure it will get an Oscar for Best Picture nod as well.

Acting: 10/10

Video/Editing: 9/10
Audio/Music: 9/10
