The Horsemen - Lots of trouble for a dead goat.

Frankenheimer's sports-adventure-drama about Afghan horse riders who play a dangerous and brutal sport called buzkashi.
Omar Sharif plays the proud son of a master rider (Palance) who suffers an accident during one such game. Despite his injury he sets out to reclaim his former glory. The location footage of Spain and Afghanistan looks fantastic. The actual scenes where the sport is being played are tense and exciting. It makes you wonder if the extras and the horses are okay in these action sequences.
Machismo and honor overlap with greed and egotism. A lot of the characters are actually quite conniving and selfish. Sharif is solid enough in this type of role but Leigh Taylor-Young delivers perhaps the best performance as an alluring 'untouchable'. Jack Palance looks weird in this.
