Wannabe buddy flick that’s far more unpleasant than expected.
Even as stock action characters go, Dave Bautista is too much of a hardass jerk whilst Kumail Nanjiani is uncharacteristically annoying instead of endearing.
There’s an early scene in a strip club that’s kind of funny. But the rest is stuff you saw better in other buddy-cop comedies. It even does the “recognizable actor is secret villain” twist in the third act.
The fact that Uber has been revealed to be a scummy company makes the feel-good presentation ring hollow.
