Sicario

Sicario translates to hitman.

Denis Villeneuve's Sicario is a relentlessly suspenseful nail-biter of a crime thriller set against the crime riddled backdrop of the U.S.-Mexican border. Emily Blunt plays the rookie FBI agent assigned to a special ops team meant to carry out missions of questionable legality which are ostensibly meant to bring the drug cartels' violence home to them. Josh Brolin is the wily leader of the group and Benicio Del Toro is the frightening enforcer who seems like a demon from hell. The tightly wound plot is intense and gnarly as hell at times. A good example is how a simple border crossing becomes as dangerous as would a trip to Mars. Sicario is a dark movie and its plot might be a turnoff for some as it does not follow the typical narrative you might come to expect from this genre. Sometimes you wonder if the movie is deliberately thumbing its nose at such conventions.
