Kongo (1932)

You heard of soap operas? Well, think of Kongo (1932) as a jungle opera. Despite the backdrop of the Belgian Congo with missionaries, hostile natives, and ivory traders as characters, it still has all the hallmarks of that genre with love triangles, revenge plots, and hysterics from both men and women. Walter Huston is good as the monomaniacal proprietor of a trading outpost deep within the African jungle who still finds the time to hatch one vindictive scheme after another.
