Novelty Idea Lacks Everything That Makes A Movie

'Pixels' has the most wasted potential of any movie I've seen in a long time. The premise offers something new, while incorporating a fun pastime that most people have experienced. At the least, this could've been a fun, flashy live-action cartoon for the whole family. Those easily achievable ambitions were not shared by the people who made this wreck. It's extremely obvious that there was a blatant lack of effort from everyone involved. This movie is ground zero for entertainment. I was so incredibly annoyed and bored by almost every second of screen time. For starters, the lazy writing is excruciating. Massive inconsistencies crumble what should've been an entirely simple plot. Rules of the classic video games are re-established, only to be broken by unexplained means that feel cheap and stupid. Characters from those games are just there to destroy buildings. There's no sense of danger, or actual stakes. Even the action carries no stimulation. There's no fun to be had in the basic novelty of the whole movie! The human characters are god-awful individuals. The interactions between them are completely asinine dialogues that have nothing to do with the almost nonexistent plot. Their only purpose is to make the most horrid excuses for jokes that involve misogyny, homophobia, and grade school insults. It's the lowest of the low. I found it painfully hard to utter the one smirk I had at some throwaway sight gag. That's the closest this movie comes to resembling actual humor. 'Pixels' barely resembles an actual movie. It was slapped together with obvious contempt for it's audience, and that just pisses me off! Adam Sandler has gone from being a has been comedian to a downright uncaring money seeker. I hate this movie! GIGANTIC waste of time!
