Justice League: War

New 52 For DCU

'War' starts a new continuity for most future films in the DCU. The stories are based off the current comic revamp 'The New 52'. To me, they feel too much like Marvel, but not enough to be considered a straight rip-off. This first adventure is basically a reworking of the second half of the live-action 'Avengers'. The heroes have first meetings and must team-up to form the JLA in order to stop an alien invasion. I'm actually okay with this. It's so tight, fast paced, and action packed that the rest didn't bother me as much. That is, except for the characters being less engaging. They each revolved around one personality trait, making them less formed and likable. None represented those things their characters have stood for all these yeas, and instead became a rag-tag rowdy group focused on showing off and spouting lame jokes using throwaway references. Just a passable outing.
