What I believed to be just a treasure hunting adventure became much more. The story encompasses most movie troupes we come to expect from this type of genre offering, but nothing ever plays out the way in which we expect. Every turn presents a new problem for the characters. Though, no problem is more prevalent than the power struggle between the main three. Greed and paranoia overpower their moral logic. Bogart's character becomes the most affected. This is one of his best performances.
