An ok kinda movie

I watched this movie because I was part of a stage adaptation of it. So, I know it inside out, all its strengths and its flaws. Despite being on the darker side by Disney standards, the movie Disney-fies, Hollywoodizes and oversimplifies a much darker tale of Hugo's. It takes a tragedy and gives it a kiddy ending. Frollo and Pheobus' characters are also oversimplified. But despite these flaws, it's a good movie to watch as long as you don't expect it to conform to the original novel. The gargoyles, especially, are hugely entertaining and Quasimodo is so charming and loveable.
