The movie opens with Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) locked away in a Russian prison been busted out by fellow IMF agents, IT wizard cum comical side kick Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) and the beautiful Jane Carter (Paula Patton) in order for Hunt to resume a mission at IMF.

But things go horribly wrong and soon, Russia and the United States find themselves at the brink of war and the entire IMF is disavowed. With no plan, no backup and no choice Hunt and his team, which now includes William Brandt (Jeremy Renner) an IMF analyst with a mysterious past are forced to go on the run.

In an effort to both clear their names and save the world, Hunt and his comrades pursue Alex Hendricks, a nuclear extremist bent on destroying civilization as we know it, using a variety of elaborate and frantic methods in a host of exotic locations.

The stunts were breathtaking; Ethan climbs the world's tallest tower (Dubai's Burj Khalifa) and almost falls… TWICE. The whole movie was action-packed; it kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting for the action to slow down, which didn’t happen. Simon Pegg is endearingly funny and cute. Jeremy Renner is marvelous. Playing the villain is none other than Michael Nyqvist from the original "Girl with a dragon tattoo". Lea Seydoux plays the smoking hot assassin Sabine Moreau and Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor reduces all Indians to a rather embarrassing stereotype playing the a creepy, greasy telecommunications tycoon cum notorious playboy who makes a fool of himself over the sexy American hottie. There are also two other unaccredited cameos: Ving Rhames and Michelle Monaghan
