Problem Child

The little terror from Hell!
MovieAddict - wrote on 03/04/12

Flo (Amy Yasback) is a bitchy selfish gold digging woman who wants to have a child in order to be just like every other parent in their neighborhood and use him as a social tool but unfortunately she is unable to conceive. She and her loving hubby Ben Healy (John Ritter) decide to adopt a little kid named Junior (Michael Oliver) who is very mischievous and similar to the character played by Dennis the Menace except while Dennis is a sweet child, Junior is more of the child from Hell who gets into all sorts of trouble and accidents. Junior's so 'bad to the bone' that even the Nuns at the Orphanage are ecstatic to be rid of him.

Flo soon realizes that Junior is no angel and wants to do the same but Ben wants to be a good father and sees him as a lonely kid who is just misunderstood and looking for love. He treats him with love and kindness until Junior's hero - a notorious serial killer called the Bow Tie Killer gets out of prison and comes to visit. Seinfield’s Kramer plays the ex-con and Jack Warden is the aggressive grandpa.

I saw this movie when I was much younger and thought the hellish pranks of Junior was hilarious. Now I look back and have to say that Junior is like every other kid who sees any kind of attention as a good thing. Problem child is entertaining enough if you just give it a chance.
