Time is Money!

"In order for a few to be immortal many must die."

Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried star in this sci-fi thriller which takes place in the future where time is used as currency and people stop aging at 25. Upon reaching that age a clock on your arm starts counting down. Each person is granted a year. When your clock hits zero you die. Imagine having to live your life by constantly looking at how much time you still have. To stay alive you have to earn time and because time is money it means people work, deal, fight, gamble and steal to get it and add to their dwindling lifespan engraved on their arms. The lucky ones, the rich, can live forever while the poor go from day to day hoping that they can keep enough time to be able to make it to the next day.

We are introduced to pauper factory worker Will Salas (Justin Timberlake) a young man living in a ghetto who's time is just about up. One night at a bar, Will attempts to save a man who is being pursued by gangsters because he has a century's worth of time on his arm. They escape and the man reveals that society is deliberately increasing the cost of living in the ghettos so that people will die out. Henry who has been 25 years old for so long that he just doesn’t want to live anymore rewards Will by giving him all his time before he clocks himself out (commits suicide).Unfortunately Will's mother (Olivia Wilde) does not benefit - she dies because her time runs out.

Mistakenly identified as murdering the man timekeeper Raymond Leon (Cillian Murphy) goes after Will. But Will flees the scene and travels across "time zones" that serve as tollbooths separating the poor from the rich. He wants to take down the people at the top and quickly makes his way to New Greenwich, where all the money is and people live forever. "You're not from around here, you're in too much of a hurry" said the waitress at an expensive hotel he checks into. (Some great quotes in this movie) Meanwhile Raymond is one step behind him so in an attempt to get the timekeepers of his back Will takes a hostage, Sylvia Weis (Amanda Seyfried), the daughter of one of the wealthiest men alive. Robbed of their time by the same gangsters that tried to kill Henry, and closely followed by the time keepers, Will and Sylvia must work together to stay alive.

Vincent Kartheiser plays an intriguing Philippe Weis, an 85-year-old, 25-year-old time millionaire who expects to remain immortal. Amanda Seyfried (Sylvia Weis) is the poor little rich girl who became more likable as the film progressed. Vincent Kartheiser was a nice surprise and Olivia Wilde wasn't in nearly long enough. Alex Pettyfer makes a really good bad guy and Cillian Murphy is great as the determined character who will stop at nothing to find Will Salas!
