Clive Owen portrays an advertising executive (Charles Schine) with a sick daughter who decides to spice up his life by having a night of fun with a sexy married woman Lucinda Harris (Jennifer Aniston) whom he meets on a train, and later invites her for lunch. After a few lunches they decide to go out for a drink which leads to a hotel...but before they can consummate their illicit relationship they are interrupted by the French thug LaRoche (Vincent Cassel), who invades the room, steals their wallets, then beats and rapes Lucinda. Charles wants to call the police but is dissuaded from doing so by Lucinda, who is terrified that if her husband finds out he will divorce her and claim custody of their young daughter. To make matters worse the robber/rapist has discovered Charles's identity from the papers in his wallet and begins blackmailing him under the threat of exposing their affair. The story was interesting, with multiple twists and turns, and the finale unexpected.
