Monty Python and the Holy Grail

The Quest for Humor

I believe I was the last of my friends to see this movie. A co-worker of mine always makes references to it at work, and I never really laughed, and finally one day she asked if I had ever seen it, and I told her no. She brought it to me to watch over the weekend, and I just finished it.

It wasn't the knock out comedy I was expecting, but it was decent. Maybe it's because it was made make in 1974 and British humor. You see I sort of have to be in the mood for that sort of comedy.

However, I really loved the black knight scene. I love how King Arthur (played by Graham Chapman) cuts off the black knight's arm and the knight says, "C'mon ya pansy!" That had me laughing really good. Arthur goes on to cut off all the Knights limbs and the Knight is just a hump on the ground and he says, "Come here and I'll bite your legs off!" That's great!

My other favorite scene is the killer rabbit scene. That is quite possibly one of the funniest things ever! "It's just a little bunny!" Then the damn thing jumps and bites off a knights head! F*ing great!! I will never look at bunnies the same way again.

The ending is great too. I honestly don't know why I never got around to watching this sooner. I love movies that just end so differently from how the norm would think they would end. Anyway, if it is raining outside sometime this spring or summer and you have never seen this film then you should really check it out. I'm glad I finally did!
