Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure

Two high school boys are visited by a time traveller from the future who tells them that the entire future of human civilisation depends upon their passing their history report. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is as lowbrow and ridiculous as it sounds, which is all part of its appeal. A time travel comedy in a similar vein to Back To The Future except the affable dimwits in question travel throughout history to meet figures from history and transport them to modern California. There is little more to it than that, but its amusing sense of the absurd combined with the likeable leads makes it consistently amusing. The highlights all revolve around the likes of Socrates, Beethoven, Genghis Khan and Abraham Lincoln causing chaos in a contemporary shopping mall and the hilarious Valley speak contained within what passes as "the dialogue"! Hardly an intellectual exercise, but that's kind of the point and it spawned a sequel that is even better.
