Absolutely brilliant on every level
Brilliant director Ridley Scott delivers a modern science fiction masterpiece in "Prometheus", an epic, visually stunning and incredibly intense prequel to his excellent 1979 movie "Alien." I had very high expectations for this movie, being a big fan of the "Alien" franchise and director Ridley Scott as well, and I am thrilled to report that this movie delivers on every expectation imaginable. From a technical perspective the cinematography, special effects and editing are first rate and Scott uses the 3D format to maximum effect. I loved the story, which is deep on a philosophical level, but also remembers to include plenty of intense shocking moments. The cast is mostly terrific, with standout performances by Noomie Rapace and Michael Fassbender. Scott ratchets up the action and tension in the final hour and repeatedly delivers moments of sheer awesomeness. Thankfully, Scott kept this movie a hard R, rather than caving in and editing it down to a PG-13. If you are a science fiction horror fan you will not be disappointed. Make sure to see it on the big screen in 3D and IMAX if you can.
