Most people know what they are getting into when they attend a Michael Bay movie. That being said, Bay has a lot of respect for the military (especially Navy SEALS) and I think 13 Hours has a lot of passion behind it and, more importantly, it doesn't get political and focuses on the men and their heroics. As it is, the movie could have been better but I liked it more than I would have thought. If you liked American Sniper and Lone Survivor this is very much in the same wheelhouse.

I was just as surprise as everyone else when this movie didn't turn out to be terrible as we expected it to be, because when you hear a movie that's directed by Michael Bay and being released in January, you would expect it to be bad. The movie itself isn't good, but it is better than most January movies that we've had.

a masterful film in almost every aspect

Telling this story needed to be done and done right. Amazingly, Michael Bay achieves true greatness with this effort. Iím overwhelmed because no one could have known Bay had this movie in him as a director. This is a masterful film in almost every aspect and certainly in every way that truly matters. Maybe knowing the real life set up and cover up to these events helps elevate the appreciation of what hits the screen but the film holds up well even if a viewer is unaware of world affairs. The premeditated, brutal attack in 2012 on two United States installations in Benghazi, Libya is a dark chapter in not only the war on terror but in U.S. history in general. Expertly depicting the events surrounding those attacks with such tension and emotion is a credit to this film and those that made ...

Bullets Over Benghazi

'13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi' is Michael Bay's latest attempt at telling a true story. For once, there's no swaying agenda to the political nature of the real incident. Here the focus is just a plain straight-forward retelling of actual events. Though, the overused cliched moments in most heroic efforts of wartime movies eventually come into play close to the end. It felt really forced, especially considering that we know little about the men involved besides some of them having a wife and/or kid at home. I didn't care for these guys due to the overall detachment I had from the overlong setup filled with dull exposition. I honestly almost dozed off before the crap finally hit the fan. The combat never lets up after that. The entire second half is repetitive gunfire m...
