Perfect Stranger is a poor excuse for a suspense film. It starts off bad and doesn't get any better. The horrid Direction and Screenplay are laughable and the "acting" is what it is. Halle Berry is OK in the lead and Bruce Willis is incredibly wasted. Giovanni Ribisi is the standout, playing the (you guessed it) questionable sidekick. This movie is painfully slow and suffers from an embarrasing and down right stupid ending. A sad waste of talent. |

A pretty cut-and-dry thriller that saves the best twist for last, but can't save an otherwise by-the-books film. Everything about the film is perfectly adequate, but there's not a lot that stands out. |

Bruce Willis trys to one-up his movie the Sixth Sense, but fails.
This movie follows the same type of plot, except it does it worse. They somewhat drop you right into the storyline, making it hard in the first 1/2 hour to figure out the main characters.
One of the best part of the movie is the delivery of lines between Halle Berry's character and Giovanni Ribisi. They have got some kickin' chemistry.
Sadly though, the movie moves a long kind of slowly and the 'twist' at the end, although unexpected, isn't given the hype that a twist like that needs.
Slow moving. Good dialogue between characters. Bruce Willis is always intimidating, even in a suit. Underhyped climax. |

I couldn't decide whether to give this a two-star or a three-star review (out of four stars). In some ways, I found it trying too hard to be something that simply isn't or it shouldn't be, but at times I found myself admiring its earnestness to be liked by everyone as it tried to pull major twists in the story. But I do know one thing: film critics were too harsh on this movie. I guess it's because A-list actors starred in this movie, such as Bruce Willis and Halle Berry. I'm the kind of critic that gives 99% of all movies equal chance to be "good," with A-list actors or otherwise. (Especially "otherwise" because I'm akin to lesser-known and/or unconventional films and actors.) Back to the film, there were some nice touches here and there such as the pattern of people not turning out who ... |
