Adapted from Elmore Leonard's novel of the same name, Out of Sight tells the love story of a chronic bank robber Jack Foley (George Clooney) and tough FBI agent Karen Sisco (Jennifer Lopez) who should in all practicality hate each other but instead find themselves uncontrollably drawn to one another. A flawless story line with interesting characters, Out of Sight is a smoothly directed by Steven Soderburg. The pace of the film, the music, the freeze-shots, all of them make this film to be very stylish and Clooney and Lopez have great chemistry. The explosive Dennis Farina, Don Cheadle, burly Ving Rhames, Luis Guzman, Steve Zahn and Albert Brooks also give good performances.

The romantic cat-and-mouse isn't always as believable as the shootout and chase scenes, but it does inject a level of humor and fun into what is otherwise a competent and effective thriller. George Clooney has never been more charismatic, which works to the film's favor, as he is playing a sometimes unlikable character. |

A poor version of The Town. Very similar premise and more female leads. Clooney and Lopez shine in their respective roles as Jack Foley and Marshall Karen Sisco. A sexy crime comedy that is cleverly written and well directed by the Traffic genius. Supporting cast was endearing but I felt the conclusion could have been better. Out of Sight is one those films you feel like watching if you are in the mood for dialogue, physical comedy and entertained by mere dialogue alone. |

"Out Of Sight" by Yojimbo |

A smooth talking bank robber develops an infatuation with the beautiful US Marshall who is tracking him. Out Of Sight is the film in which we saw the first glimpse of what George Clooney was capable of and is clearly where the seeds of the Ocean's franchise were sown. It's a smart and sassy romantic heist movie based on a novel by Elmore Leonard with one foot planted firmly in the golden age of Hollywood. Although rather far-fetched, the chemistry between Lopez and Clooney works particularly well, he exhibiting his trademark charm and she making a particularly smart and strong as well as sexy leading lady. The dialogue is witty, the characters highly likeable and the plot interesting without being overly convoluted; everything a caper movie should be, basically. It is guilty of racial ste... |
