Police squad member Frank Drebin works to protect Queen Elizabeth II from murder as his battles his own personal problems with love. The absurd comedy brings together slapstick, innuendos, and more to create a good collection of laughs. It's more than just a comedy though. The characters are charming while also being ludicrous, combining momentary stupidity with charm and grace (or lack of, in some cases), making them easy to love. They are, however, too cliched in most cases. The story falls victim of that as well, seeing as the plot was pretty predictable. It's hard to make a comedy movie like that which isn't, though. Despite the flaws, the jokes and likable characters still make it a great American comedy classic.

From the makers of the most iconic parody film ever, Airplane (1980), comes this send up of 80's cop films. It's not quite as good, but it does have all of the sight gags and one-liners that you come to expect from this team. It's not bad if you're just looking to be entertained.

Nielsen revisits his deadpan disaster area of a character Frank Drebin in a resurrection of the very funny Police Squad! A decent big screen version, but not as funny as the TV show.

Just viewed this amazing comedy. Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) tries to protect the Queen. Officer Nordberg (O.J. Simpson) gets injured at a drug bust. Frank and Ludwig's assistant Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley) become close. The death of Ludwig and antics on the baseball game was a bit cartoonish and iffy. Rest of the humor was spot on. Scenes with the Queen and Drebin were hilarious. The Naked Gun is one of the highlights of Nielsen that shows one doesn't have to physically capable, just stone cold with a bit of comedic timing works.

The first Naked Gun is the best - a film that has the energy and silliness of a spoof film in the vein of Airplane!. While it isn't as good as that film, it does feature some great one-liners and sight gags and Leslie Nielsen plays straight-faced boldly through the stupidest of scenes.
