Disappointing. Bloom does at least muscle up a little bit, rather than being a hero of no personality (LOTR). Scott's flick doesn't portray the Crusades correctly in my mind. What happened to Gladiator? This is an average movie.

The DC is better

I didn't like this movie at first, because it was the theatrical release. I found the plot confusing and the characters under-developed. But, later I managed to get my hands on the director's cut version and I thought i should give this movie another chance, having heard that the DC is way better. Boy, was I right! The long version is way better , bringing depth to the characters and making the plot less confusing and weird. Also, in both versions, Eva Green and Edward Norton do a stellar job.

Underrated, Under Appreciated... see the D's Cut!

I cannot and will not speak for the original theatrical release of this film mainly because that's not the film that people should have seen. The studio cut Ridley Scott's film into ribbons took out some of the best parts in the entire film in a way that lowers the actual comprehension of the movie and still expected it to be a hit. If you have seen this film in theaters and you thought it was horrible, go do yourself the favor of going to Blockbuster or Netflix and getting the Director's Cut. I swear you will not be disappointed if you enjoy medieval films.
This movie is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is incredibly compelling to watch. I watched this film with such intent and hanging on every scene that I hadn't realized that three hours had gone by after I fini...

The most underrated Hollywood movie in years...

I saw this film in the cinema twice: first in California, then in Paris. In California, on opening weekend, the audience was bored to tears and booed(!) at the ending of the film. In Paris, six months after it opened, a packed house showed up and cheered the ending -- cheered.

Now, I'm not sure what that means. I do know that the movie was considered a flop in a America -- but the film actually turned a healthy profit worldwide. Why all the hate? The movie is far more intelligent than all the other sword-and-sandal movies released since... well... SPARTACUS. In fact, it has more in common with LAWRENCE OF ARABIA than GLADIATOR It's certainly more sophisticated than politically white-washed popcorn movies like BRAVEHEART (which is not remotely accurate in it's history, by the way) and A...
