Loved it when it came out but it's lost some of it's charm over the years. However, it's still a pretty good 80s good-guy-underdog-overcomes-the-odds-and-puts-the-bad-guys-in-their-place-teenage-romance. |

You don't need big names and special effects to make a memorable film. Karate Kid is simple, well done and a gem of the 80s. It has a great message and it's still a great family film. |

A great family movie that can be appreciated by every 80's kid. To be honest, it is a good movie that should not be overlooked due to the sequels. I recommended it for the performance by Mr. Miyagi and the way that he teaches Daniel Karate. |

One of the best action/family movie. RALPH MACCHIO really made it big here. The neat thing about the whole mentoring thing was that it was never done inside a Karate club or some Shao-Lin monastery. That probably was where RALPH was expecting it to be. It came as a big surprise to him when his first "kata" was to buff clean his mentor's car! Being able to relate the surreal, philosophical dimensions of eastern martial arts to day-to-day chores is such an eye-opener to him. Good movie |
