A horrible ripoff of slasher films that follows the same premise as the Scream franchise, without the tongue-in-cheek wit. The plot is rife with coincidences and lines that are groan-worthy. The last few minutes are supposed to set up the sequel, but come off as an unnecessary "boo" silly scare scene. |

First of all, this movie slasher was pretty good, but it sure isn't the "Scream" type. The plot was so unoriginal, but it was surprising on how much suspense the movie had. The only reason there was good dialouge was because Kevin Williamson wrote the script. The movie was actually past decent. The movie was also great, because of its great young cast members: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe. |

The mystery and suspense is intriguing, but only up until the last 10 min. The ending just doesn't make any sense. The reveal of the killer is very hard to face, because we have no idea who this person is and their motive is not made clear. It feels like a complete waste, when we (don't) learn the truth. |

Coming out around the same time as "Scream", "I Know What You Did Last Summer" is one of the modern classics of horror. With an all-star, sizzling-hot cast, this movie does more than terrify its viewers, it shoves the audience into a terrifying reality that our sins always find us out. Mwahahaha. |

A Memorable '90s Slasher Flick |
|
It may seem like a typical slasher movie on the outside but I was surprised when I realized how much suspense this movie had. The actual kills are rarely shown, which is a good thing, because the horror lies in the chases and the killer hiding in the shadows. I liked that there’s only four main characters: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr. The audience didn’t get to know them as much as we should have but they’re not exactly boring either. This movie preys on people’s fears: when someone’s actively trying to run you over, someone hiding in your house but you not knowing about it, and hearing strange noises in your car when you’re driving alone are some effective chills that this film has to offer. I did have a major problem with the script... |
