I mean, for a movie featuring animals it's okay, but there are a lot better ways to enjoy your four-legged friends on film. Still, for the younger set, it might not be a bad choice. I prefer Milo & Otis or even Babe over this.

One of the only animal films that I can stand.

It's impressive that this film relies on strong characters and writing to tell an entertaining and moving story, when a similar "talking animal" film made today would just pour a bunch of money into CGI critters (see: Garfield, Cats & Dogs)

One of the few times a remake is better than the original.

This movie was okay but not the best movie I ever saw, (okay not even close). The animals talk with voices that do totally not fit them at all. The truth of it all is if you don't like dogs or cats you would probably, and I mean it when I say it, HATE this movie. Even if you love animals its not garented that you will like this movie.
