Even though the film starts out somewhat formulaic, it quickly transforms into a quirky and sweet comedy. The glue that holds all the elements together is the talented cast, which has sparks and chemistry in every scene.

I really was surprised by how much I liked this movie. When I saw it in the theater, I enjoyed every second and bought it the second it came out on video. Kate Winslet is wonderful in everything she does and Cameron Diaz didn't annoy me as much as I thought she would. Jude Law is another one of those actors who do a great job in whatever it is he does, and Jack Black was a great casting choice in order to even out the amount of strictly comedic or generally dramatic actors in the cast. Eli Wallach was also a wonderful addition to the cast and the chemistry was as beautiful as the score. A great film that I enjoyed and can watch again and again. Please watch "The Holiday."

Good-natured romance offers pleasures in the well-chosen cast, though it's far-fetched how much happens in the span of time (2 or 3 weeks maximum), particularly the big gala event honoring Eli Wallach. As long as it is, it's actually a pleasure to spend time with these people. Final Grade: B+

Nothing really special about this movie, the basics of it has been done a million times before. It is about two women who swap houses, for two weeks during the holidays, hoping to escape men but instead end up finding love. A dull movie, not really worth watching, despite the great actors and actresses.
