It has a good setup, but becomes progressively worse until that awful twist ending.

Avoid Hide and Seek, it's a boring waste of time. The plot felt very dry and recycled, there's nothing new here. The surprise ending was not a surprise, I saw it about half way through the movie, and it was very unnecessarily depressing and nihilistic. There is no supernatural element, no thrills or real shock. I can't believe I actually wasted my time seeing Hide & Seek to the end. It's a shame because the directing is OK and the cast is fabulous. The plot itself just put a stench on this one. The DVD has a few alternate endings, and they would have actually worked better than the original, but they're still all more of the same, more of what we've all seen a hundred times. Hide & Seek feels more like a bad drama than anything else. Don't watch this on DVD though, don't even watch it …
