Run!! Forrest.. Run... to #11 on my list!

Forrest Gump is a heartwarming tale about a mentally slow young man as he makes his journey through life. Forrest encounters many interesting people through this journey that makes him a better person and helps him deal with his disability. He is raised by a strong mother ( played wonderfully by Sally Field) that teaches him self worth. He falls in love with Jenny (Robin Wright Penn) and this love is what keeps Forrest determined.. This movie is outstanding because of the acting of Hanks, Penn, and most of all Gary Sinise. Sinise's portrayal of Captain Dan is by far his best work. The direction by Robert Zemeckis is outstanding. But the best part of the movie is the infussion of key times in history into Forrest's life. Momma Always Said.....#38

Most people probably rank this movie higher but I still think it is just a tad bit over-dramatized.....that being said it is still a wonderful movie. I can watch it with ease and I love the performance of Tom Hanks (although I still think his individual performances in Saving Private Ryan, Philadelphia and Cast Away are equal if not better) as well as the supporting cast of Sally Field, Robin Wright Penn and Gary Sinise (who does do his best work...period). Most of what director Robert Zemeckis does is daring and seems to work but too many unrealistic situations hurt the movie a little. Had he not exaggerated it so much it probably would have been in my Top 10......as it is it is one of the best drama's ever put on screen and comes in at #38........

Amazing!

One of my favorite family flicks. It's a refreshing story of a young man, whose slightly on the "slow" side, and his compelling story as he grew from a boy to a man, loving the same girl the entire movie, and getting an astonishingly amount of good luck. It's satisfying, it'll make you laugh, it'll make you cry. Tom Hanks puts on a great performance, one of his best, I must add. Go see this movie if you haven't already, you have no idea how much you are missing!
