This movie was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting very much. But boy, did it give a whole lot! |

A standard, but skillfully-deployed thriller with most of the cliches working at full force; that said, it's nothing fresh, but utterly entertaining and Harrison Ford is always worth watching. Final Grade: B- |

Though there are a few plot holes the movie has it's moments of great action scenes. Unfortunately the ending is way to abrupt. Still worth renting |

Firewall |
|
Firewall is the type of action thriller that I'm not to fond of. It starts off good and actually keeps your interest, until it saves all of the action for the last ten minutes. Harrison Ford is an actor i like a lot but i'm getting tired of seeing him typecast as the successful guy who has to save somebody or something. He does a good here, but not even his charisma, is enough to carry this film. We are left with plot-hole after plot-hole and not enough action to keep me satisfied. Virginia Madsen was good as well but Paul Bettany didn't convince me because he gave such a simple performance. Mary Lynn Rajskub(better known as Chloe on 24) is a breath of fresh air in this film. |

Making a villain out of dynamite was a bold choice |
|
There are people that say dumb action flicks don’t have to make sense and give them a slide. I’m just not one of those people. I expect the films I see to have at least a casual relationship with logic and common sense. I guess I expect more, and oh boy was I let down by Firewall. Harrsion Ford stars as a man who has his family kidnapped by the smartest (and dumbest - depending which frame you are watching) criminals who want to steal money from his bank using a USB drive. They want to frame him for the crime and stay anonymous (so why do they show up at his work and get caught on the security feed?). When our hero explains how retarded the idea is they make him come up with a new plan. The ridiculousness hits an apex when the filmmakers decide to make one of the villains out of dy... |
