I'm not really sure why this movie didn't work. Sarah Jessica Parker and Mathew McConaughey were just not quite right together. However, Terry Bradshow and Kathy Bates had great chemistry! |

Lightweight, overly-predictable, would-be romantic comedy; the script obviously thinks limitless scenes of animal attacks are hilarious, as characters get bit by a chipmunk, a dolphin, a lizard and a mockingbird. Zooey Deschanel escapes the tedium in the usually thankless role of the best friend, but the chemistry between Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker, well, fails to launch. Final Grade: C |

The worst. I mean this joins the sewagey ranks of most other recent super-stereotyped male and female "romantic comedy" uglies.
This is one of those bottom of the barrell - "what the hell is going on?!"- kind of movies.
The frighteningly over-cooked McConaughey's name is "Tripp" - and as if THAT weren't enough - A LIZARD LAUGHS AT THEIR MISFORTUNE.
Enough said. |

Barely Stays Afloat! |
|
Matthew McConaughey is the main character Tripp, who works as a boat broker and drives a fancy sports car. He has never been able to leave the nest but now, his desperate parents have had enough. They decide to hire a young woman, Paula (Sarah Jessica Parker) who makes men move out of their parent's houses... by simulating a romantic relationship with them. She has a clear cut plan that has never failed- until now because the last thing she expected was that Tripp would fight back. Bradley Cooper and Justin Bartha were both pretty funny as his two best friends who also live with their parents. Zooey Deschanel is vibrant, funny, and certainly the best thing in this movie, as Paula's roommate, Kit. She had me on the floor numerous times with her flat delivery, and brilliant comebacks.

Failure to Launch |
|
*Warning: Spoilers*
I just saw "Failure to Launch" and i thought it was just ok. There were a few things i did like, and a few things i did NOT like.
The things that i DID like about the movie were...
1. Matthew McConaughey being bitten time after time by animals. I thought it would become stale after the second time, but it never did.
2. The scene stealing scenes by Terry Bradshaw and Kathy Bates as McConaugheys parents, who want him to move out.
The things that i did NOT like about the movie were...
1. It reminded me to much of "How to lose a guy in 10 days", with Matthew McConaughey(who starred in both movies) being in a "set up" type situation by a woman.
2. I hated the whole sub-plot about Sarah Jessica Parkers roommate and the bird that wouldn't stop c... |
