The Justice Department enlists special-effects wizard Rollie Tyler for the most elaborate assignment of his lifetime -- to fake the murder of a high-profile mobster who's about to enter the witness protection program. One character in the earliest scene mentions something about movies today (1980's at the time) being all about the f/x. The same can be said of this movie. Here we have a standard crime movie, with enough murder and head scratching twists to spare. Though, with the story being about an actual movie f/x artist, the f/x themselves are great and make it worth the watch.

I found this movie very dated, which made it difficult to get involved in the movie.

Made before there were really great special effects, this movie offered some exciting stuff for it's time. It's still a pretty good little thriller. There is some really bad acting done by the chick who plays Bryan Brown's assistant -- maybe she's the producer's daughter. But Dennehy, Brown and Orbach are all good.
