It was way better than "The legend of ..."

"I thought heroes fight for glory. But mercenaries fight for gold."

Remember my review of "The Legend of Hercules" ? Probably you noticed that I wasn't really impressed by it. First, there was no sign of the "Twelve labors" in this film. And it was a hodgepodge of topics from various films. It looked a bit like "Gladiator" mixed with "Pompeii" and "300". And also, Kellan Lutz didn't have enough charisma to become a mythical figure like Hercules. That's why I was so curious about this version with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. And although it's not exactly a masterpiece, it still could captivate me. First of all there was a small part dedicated to the labors and also because of some memorable moments.

What intrigued m...

I...AM...HERCULES!!!!!!!!!!

Hercules exemplifies the kind of old-fashioned but fun-filled popcorn entertainment that Hollywood no longer seems interested in making anymore and that's a damn shame. Sure, it's made out of familiar parts but there's a reason that those plot elements remain in use-because they work. Before blockbusters relied on superheroes, young adult books, or aliens to remain commercially viable, they relied on charismatic leading men and gave them film roles that fit them like a glove.
For Dwayne Johnson, Hercules is that glove and it's a wonder that he wasted so much of his career doing those awful family comedies with action hero chops like this. The film moves at a fast but fun pace and there's plenty of action and humor to enjoy. It helps that the cast members are clearly enjoying themselves a...

Strong movie hoping for a second one

I found this to be entertaining and very enjoyable movie . what makes it good is the great cast, unlike other hercules movies they dont go into the whole son of the god zeus too much its mentioned as a myth whether its true not even hercules knows there's no silly zeus or gods intervening or nay of that sillyness.
also whats good is its not just hercules its hercules and his group of friends all of which are great actors.
so you get this band of merry men and one woman feel to the film rather than just hi on his own.
there's a good amount of story a little humour and action and good big battle scenes.
The story is hercules is a mercenary with a repuatiion of killing his own family. who fights for gold with his group of wayward fighters. in the hope he can settle down and live in pe...

"I am Hercules".

"I AM HERCULES!!!!".

The story is about Hercules, having allied himself with six other mercenaries who live for nothing but battle, has lived a tortured existence with nothing but blood and death to show for it. Now the king of Thrace needs the merciless group to raise an army to take down a tyrannical warlord - and they will find just how far they must go to train these men to be just as ruthless as they are.

Love or hate Brett Ratner the director of this film, you got to admit his movies looks sharp and well shot and this one is no different. The CGI looks okay and I liked Dwayne Johnson in this movie, his not the best actor on the planet but this roles was right for him because you need a big dude with to much baby oil on. Legend of Hercules you can go suck it.

Hercules Flexes More Than Muscles

After hearing just how much Dwayne Johnson went though to portray the half-god/half-mortal Hercules, I was interested to see if the results would be as impressive as the regimen. I was expecting a bunch of mindless action, some decent special effects and not much else. But, somewhere along the way, Brett Ratner (mostly known for ruining X-Men and the Rush Hour films) managed to give us a compelling story and even drawing up some deeper characters than I was expecting. All in all - for what I was expecting to just be another run-of-the-mill blockbuster, it gave me a lot more than I thought it would.

We start with Iolaus (in a sticky situation) telling some of the many tales of Hercules' mythological labors - the Lernaean Hydra, the Erymanthian Boar and the Nemean Lion - making each more...
