The third Die Hard is a little more of the same, but, fortunately, that's entertaining enough to sustain a pretty slickly directed action flick. The inclusion of Samuel L. doesn't do much, character-wise, but Jeremy Irons makes a great smart and austere bad guy and it's nice to see the franchise deviate from hostage situations.

A Department store has been bombed while a Simon (Hans Gruber’s brother) calls Inspector Cobb and searches for Lt. McClane (Bruce Willis). He gives instructions to Cobb and informs John what to do. Zeus meets John in Harlem with a racial sign. Charlie shows how a homemade bomb is created. One of the best lines from McClane - “Cheer up, things could’ve been worse.” Simon – “The road to truths has many turns.” The subway sequence was phenomenal and screenplay much improved from the last installment. Jackson and Willis are a treat to watch onscreen and finally a suitable adversary in the talented Jeremy Irons. Die Hard: With a Vengeance had more action and humor than the previous flick.

Encumbered with a lack of energy, an inappropriately attired Jeremy Irons, and a grating Samuel L. Jackson, 'Die Hard: With a Vengeance' is underwhelming and all-round disappointing. It is unquestionably the weakest of the 'Die Hard' films (so far).

A great third "Yippee-ki-yay mother f***er"

Detective John McClane isn't having the best time back in New York. He's been suspended from the police force, his marriage is falling apart, and the brother of the villain in the original, Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons), is threatening terrorist attacks on New York City unless McClane agrees to play his deadly game.

Samuel L. Jackson is great as Willis unwilling partner, a black-racist who is forced to work with a white-guy. The two have great chemistry together, sparking off each other from start to finish and provide a stark contrast to McClane's usual lone-wolf routine. Jeremy Irons plays a wonderful villain that rivals even the performance by Alan Rickman in the first film and his voice is excellent as a psychotic terrorist.

The New York City setting provides great stereo-typed c...

"Die Hard With A Vengeance" by Yojimbo

John McClane is back in the filthy vest as he attempts to foil a bullion heist with the aid of Samuel L. Jackson. John McTiernan is back at the helm and this feels much more like the original than the distinctly flaccid second film. It starts at breakneck speed and continues at that pace, as Willis is chased all over the city while trading wise cracks and jibes with Jackson, getting ever sillier as it goes. It is the turn of Jeremy Irons to display a motley collection of dubious accents as the Hollywood Euro-villain of the month and by the end logic has firmly taken a back seat as it settles into the usual action movie excesses. The female villain seems a little redundant and there's maybe one double cross too many, not that it really matters because nobody likes Die Hard for it's gritty...

Yippie Kay Yay

Bruce Willis, Samuel L Jackson, and Jeremy Irons... how much better a cast can you get? Well to make things a little different Bruce is now partnered up with a civilian and he has to solve Simons riddles to save the day. Well this movie ranks very high on the action scale, and it takes John McClane in a totally different direction with his character. In the first 2 movies we are so used to see him work solo, and do everything to help his wife so he can be with his family. Now Holly has left him, and they only make vague references to her. There really isn't much mention of his kids.
A few of the other minor changes that were made to correct the franchise and keep it fresh include, this one doesn't take place at christmas. Now that John has someone tagging along, he doesn't really talk ...
