'Megamind' is a fun twist on the superhero genre. I enjoyed the characters and the humor very much. The story has some unforeseen turns. It's full of action, great voice talent, and memorable 80's tunes. |

While there isn't anything very new or exciting here, this is an enjoyable enough film that would be a good choice for family night as, even with the somewhat recycled plot, it was still entertaining. |

Megamind... will blow your mind! Fun fun fun! |
|
The plot is about two babies from a planet that develops creatures with strength and powers beyond that of humans. They both were saved from the destruction of their respective planets by small spacecrafts destined for earth. Metro-Man (Brad Pitt) ends up in the home of a loving family, and the blue-skinned, chrome-domed alien Megamind (Will Farrell) ends up in a prison for the mentally insane.
This charts their future course in predictable ways as Metro Man becomes the hero of Metro City, while Megamind chooses the path of evil. Their rivalry continues through the years with all of their battles resulting in the defeat of Megamind until one day Megamind succeeds in getting rid of Metro Man! Instead of being happy, Megamind realizes that achieving his life's ambition is the worst thin... |

Sploich Reviews Megamind (2010) |
|
We get a lot of superhero movies these days. Some people would say we get too many (I'm not one of them). They're virtually identical and nearly indistinguishable from one another because they always have the same basic plot: Somebody becomes a hero, gets a villain, then saves a girl. Last year, though, we got a somewhat different take on the classic superhero story in the film Megamind.
Megamind begins with a blatant and rather lazy reference to Superman (one I honestly think they might have stolen out of an episode of Darkwing Duck), introducing use to the titular character and his rival Metro Man. We quickly see them grow up and discover what they believe are their destinies, leading to them being stuck in a never-ending battle of good versus evil. This comes to an end though when M... |

Beauty And The Beast |
|
It is a scenario which we see in numerous films, the underdog falls in love with the beautiful woman, proves himself as the hero but it doesn't matter because she falls in love with who he is underneath. We have seen this a lot, but not so much in animated films. It is not often we see the ugly animated character get the gorgeous girl, but you do in "Megamind"! The film does fit into the animation trend as of late of the bad guy becoming the good guy, but gives it the twist with this unsung hero getting the girl, which will do good things for peoples self esteem. Even if you are blue with a massive forehead and alien looking you can still get the one you love by being yourself! Megamind (voiced by Will Ferrell) has never been good at anything besides being bad. The means of his existence ... |
