Outstanding performance from Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst, but while the first half of the story moved pretty well, about the time Dunst's character disappeared it just meandered its way to the end. Still worth watching for the performances. |

Despite solid performances from Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst, it's not a movie I'd watch again. Kind of slow, no real climax. The movie is over and I don't feel closure. Which I guess may be the point.. |

A solid mystery thriller that was perfectly acted by Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst. Hell, even Langella was great. Well directed, well told and very creepy. Rent this one if you are in the mood for a good mystery. See it. |

A story 'inspired' by the case of New York property magnate Robert Durst, whose wife went missing in 1982 and hasn't been seen since. A journalist and a Miami senior citizen get caught in the crossfire. Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst (who has never been better) are backed up by great character actors like Philip Baker Hall and Frank Langella, the latter full of brooding menace. Andrew Jarecki's uncompromising take on the tale leaves no doubt where the blame lies. Jarecki handles the mood swings and period detail quite brilliantly, from the couple's hippie nirvana in Vermont to 42nd St at its sleaziest. Steely Dan croon away in the background of a narrative that resonates beyond its protagonists.

A chilling unsolved mystery! |
|
ALL GOOD THINGS is a movie based on real events surrounding the disappearance of Kathie McCormack (played by Kristen Dunst). She is married to Robert Durst (whose name is changed in the movie to David Marks, played by Ryan Gosling), the eldest son of a wealthy and politically connected NY real estate family. But David has some personal issues, believed to stem from a trauma at an early age when he witnessed his mother's tragic death. His only desire is to live a simple life with the warmhearted Katie but when his controlling father forces him to work in the part of the family business, the internal and external pressures undermine David's stability, and the couple's marriage deteriorates into distrust, substance abuse and physical assault - followed by Katie's suspicious disappearance.
