Last Chance Harvey is a 2008 film starring Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson.Currently, the best price on Amazon to buy this movie is $0.01, which pretty much sums it up. It is a dull, stereo-typical movie. Two completely different people fall in love. He breaks her heart, she gets really upset and won't talk to him, but yet, somehow, he makes it up to her. Hmmmmmmmm. Where have I seen this before? Uh...every romantic movie, ever? Bingo! Anyway, terrible and worth about $0.01 |

This movie is not special. Yeah, Harvey is a screw up. But it is like any other screw up father movie. There is nothing attractive going on here. I would stay away unless you want a date movie for the two of you. |

I agree with everything Allison said about this movie. Except, I give it a 2.5, because it's pretty much just your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill love story. There just aren't many surprises or really big twists in it to make it interesting. |

Finally a movie that doesn't pull any punches and is honest as well as enjoyable. The setting of London is glorious and the moments of humor in this drama are well placed. The movie was developed for the two leads, so it felt natural. Before I knew that though, I thought without these two actors (Hoffman/Thompson) it wouldn't have worked half as well. |

Slightly better than your average date movie |

An American divorcee finds love in London with a goodhearted single woman. Well, that’s not exactly the most original idea I’ve heard for a movie, but the casting of Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson adds at least the air of respectability to what otherwise might have been just another forgettable romcom.
Harry (Hoffman) travels overseas for the wedding of his daughter (Liane Balaban), who announces she doesn’t want him to walk her down the aisle. Along with this news his job is hanging by a thread and his ex-wife (Kathy Baker) and her marvelous second husband (James Brolin) are running the festivities, much to Harry’s chagrin.
So, as you might imagine, Harry’s London adventure is a bit of a bummer, until he meets Kate (Thompson), a lonely airline worker who spends most of her time t... |
