Adam & Joe's mate Garth Jennings pull off a thoroughly likeable and heart-tugging love letter to early/mid 80's England, boyhood friendships and, indeed, Rambo. Great fun; highly recommended. |

Son of Rambow is unique and fun. Also I could totally relate to the characters, because Rambo made a similar impact on my life as well. |

An eccentric winner |
|
A lighthearted, eccentric and absolutely enjoyable coming of age story with 2 perfectly-cast lead actors; such a simple story has rarely worked this effortlessly, with genuinely touching moments like the older brothers' appearance in the younger brothers' film, and the mother chosing her son over their religion; all is put across with a wonderful visual style and an obvious love for the subjects. Final Grade: A

More Than Just Cute |

It seems I automatically movies that has something to do with the characters’ love for the cinema. This is not as intense as “The Dreamers” nor is it as adult-inclusive as “Be Kind Rewind” but it has its own witty charm. I was really impressed with the two leads, Bill Milner and Will Poulter, because they were able to deliver a whole spectrum of emotions not common in a lot of child actors today. I completely believed Milner as a lonely boy who barely has any friends partly because of his religious background and Poulter as the bully who happens to have a family that doesn’t care for each other. The first half is a bit goofy but nonetheless funny, but the second half surprised me because it’s much more dramatic and there’s a lot at stake. I’m glad that this is the kind of movie that switc... |

This film needed more focus |
|
Unfortunately, this should have been cuter. Two friends, complete opposites, form an unusual friendship by making a film together. The characters seemed forced. They try to be unique but the result is highly unoriginal. Even though the film had some good moments, there was so much distraction, including a French boy named Didier. |
