A "hick" from a small town is double crossed into thinking he is running for mayor when his campaign help finally informs him he is only there to split the vote. He takes vengeance and finally speaks his mind. Once he wins an election he will stop at nothing to give what he believes to be right to his people all the while instilling corruption and bribery in virtually every aspect of the law and the government.
An interesting look at politics, greed, corruption and a man of his word who tends not to be honest. It was a very well done movie for 1949 and the performances were outstanding. Nothing special now, but has some good history. Good.
