Don Cheadle once again plays his role well, as does Chiwetel Ejiofor. The first hour of this movie is very well done striking a nice balance between humor and revealing the life of the DJ Petey Greene. As great a role as Cheadle plays, I have to admit, it was Taraji P. Henson (Vernell [Green's Girlfriend]) who really captured the show in the beginning. However, after about an hour into the movie, things get serious very quickly and the balance I previously mentioned is lost. Not to say that the movie becomes bad, but time seems to pass more slowly and the movie just doesn't hold the same spark it had in the beginning. I would definitely recommend the movie to see at least once, the first hour will make it worth your time. |
